Long Island may be known for delicious seafood dishes due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, but you’ll find all sorts of yummy restaurants in town.

I tried as many different restaurants as possible while I was in Long Island for the sole purpose of creating this helpful eatery guide. From dive bar pizza to clams and lobster, Long Island has it all!

15 Best Long Island Restaurants

Pierre’s Restaurant

🍽️ French | ($$ to $$$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 537 5110

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (1)

Who says you need to go to France to try some of the most delicious French food on the planet? Pierre’s Restaurant in Bridgehampton is the perfect balance of casual and upscale.

Pierre’s is in the heart of the Hamptons and boasts some of my favorite brunch items in the area. I recommend a fresh fruit smoothie, a gourmet omelet, or poached salmon for brunch. For dinner, put on your best dress and order either the linguini with lobster or the pesto fettuccine.

Don’t forget to try an artisanal, hand-selected wine to accompany your meal at Pierre’s.

Lobster Roll

🍽️ Seafood | ($$ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 283 3460

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (2)

Lobster Roll is the perfect place to satisfy your hunger in a pinch. I stopped at Lobster Roll, AKA LUNCH, on my way from Southampton to Montauk and was able to bypass long restaurant wait times.

As you might have guessed, lobster is the main entree here and can be found in a variety of creative dishes. Try the lobster grilled cheese or lobster rolls to satisfy your crustacean taste buds. Foodies looking for variation can choose between fish ‘n chips, baked stuffed shrimp, and broiled salmon filet.

Check out the second Amagansett Lobster Roll location if you’re staying farther east on Long Island.

Goldberg’s Bagels

🍽️ Breakfast | ($ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 238 5976

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (3)

Nothing beats a freshly baked bagel in the morning. Goldberg’s Bagels is one of the top breakfast chains on Long Island with bagels bigger than the size of your palm.

I tried the everything bagel for my morning pick-me-up but other bagel delicacies include bagel BLTs, breakfast burritos, and bagel breakfast sandwiches. I highly recommend the vegetable and jalapeño cream cheese.

Clam Bar

🍽️ Seafood | ($ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 267 6348

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (4)

The Long Island Clam Bar is hard to miss on the Montauk Highway. It’s one of the most affordable food choices in town that’s light on the pocketbook but heavy on the taste.

The casual, fruit stand style of the Clam Bar allows customers to spend less time in line and more time suntanning on the Long Island beach. The clam chowder is a fan favorite, as well as the overstuffed Quahog Clams, raw oysters, and lobster BLTs.

Pizza Dive Bar

🍽️ Pizza | ($ to $$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 668 8378

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (5)

⚠️ Closure Note: Pizza Dive Bar is temporarily closed for the season.

I make a point to try at least one new pizzeria in as many cool New York towns as possible. Dive Bar Pizza is situated between Amagansett and Montauk and not only serves great food and huge pizza slices but also offers family-friendly games like pool and cornhole.

Cold drinks and good music make the Pizza Dive Bar a local hangout spot in the summer months. My favorite slice was the “White” pizza but the White Clam and Veggie Grandma are also popular “pie” choices.

John’s Drive In

🍽️ American | ($ to $$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 668 5515

One of the best budget travel tips is saving money on food when possible. John’s Drive In allows New York travelers to do just that. The cheap prices don’t compromise the delicious taste of the food, keeping hungry customers like me coming back for more.

I opted for the vegetarian-friendly black bean burger paired with shared mozzarella sticks and an ice cream cake. Non-vegetarian favorites include a classic cheeseburger with fries, hot dogs, and fish and chips.

Coche Comedor

🍽️Bar & Grill | ($ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 267 5709

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (6)

Latin food is limited along the eastern stretches of Long Island. Coche Comedor was one of the only Latin eateries I found while exploring the beaches and hiking trails in Long Island.

As a vegetarian, my options were limited. I ordered sides of beans, rice, plantains, guacamole, and tortillas to make my own (very tasty) tacos. My local Long Island friend, however, ordered ceviche to start and the chicken enchiladas for the entree and loved every salivating bite.

Georgie’s at the Lighthouse

🍽️ Cafe | ($$ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 668 2109

⚠️ Closure Note: Georgie’s at the Lighthouse is temporarily closed for the season.

The Montauk Lighthouse defines the Montauk beaches. Georgie’s at the Lighthouse is one of the most scenic Long Island restaurants in my opinion, on the best surf beach in the region.

Enjoy a juicy bite of a beet and goat cheese slider with a waterfront view at Georgie’s, or some freshly caught shrimp or fish tacos. You can’t go wrong with a cheesecake or an ice cream sundae for dessert either.

Blackstone Steakhouse

🍽️ Steakhouse | ($$$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 271 7780

Visit Blackstone Steakhouse if you’re celebrating a milestone event or want a fancy night out in the Hamptons. This extravagant steakhouse may just be the most expensive establishment on our ultimate restaurant list.

Put on your best dress and tighten up that bowtie before making a reservation at Blackstone Steakhouse. Located in Melville, Blackstone offers an array of high-quality dishes such as steak, chops, Kobe beef, and specialty seafood items.

Naturally Good Cafe

🍽️ Cafe | ($ to $$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 668 9030

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (7)

I visited Naturally Good Cafe at least 6 times during my 10-day stay on Long Island. The fresh organic ingredients were just what my body craved after a hot day surfing under the Long Island sun.

The freshly-pressed juices are to die for, the smoothies are even better, and Long Island locals travel from near and far to get a taste of the yummy fish tacos Naturally Good is known for. You may even catch some live music on the back patio during the weekends!

The intimate market is also a convenient place to stock up on beach snacks before hitting the waves.

Almond

🍽️ American | ($$$ to $$$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 537 5665

Located in Bridgehampton, Almond is the best place to eat on Long Island for French comfort food. The dishes at Almond change with the fresh produce in season, ensuring fresh cuisine around the clock.

Mussels, roasted chicken, macaroni & cheese, and Moroccan-style turkey meatballs are among the top dishes at Almond. My favorite time to visit this eatery is on Thursday night when weekly karaoke is alive and pitchin’.

Volpe Ristorante

🍽️Italian | ($$ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞 +1 516 802 7501

Located right on the Jericho Turnpike, Volpe Ristorante is one of Long Island’s top Italian restaurants. The prices of Volpe are average for Long Island, meaning you won’t necessarily break the bank over a pasta dish.

I highly recommend the Mozzarella Caprese Toscana and the Penne Primavera.

Bamboo

🍽️ Asian Fusion | ($$ to $$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 488 4240

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (8)

Bamboo is an up-and-coming Asian Fusion restaurant in Southampton. I had a tasty sushi dinner during Labor Day, the busiest weekend in the Hamptons, and it seemed as if every tourist in Southampton was also craving the unique flavors of fresh sushi.

Bamboo is one of the most popular restaurants in the neighborhood that focuses on both seafood and a nightlife-like ambiance during the evenings. The tasty cuisine at Bamboo is best experienced during lunch or dinner and can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Page at 63 Main

🍽️American | ($$$ to $$$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 725 1810

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (9)

⚠️ Closure Note: Page at 63 Main is temporarily closed for renovations.

Page at 63 Main is the top restaurant in Sag Harbor. As one of the area’s fancier restaurants, I recommend visiting Page for fancy occasions or for date nights during your Long Island vacation.

Pastas, seafood, steak, and gourmet salads are the name of the game at Page at 63 Main. This is also an ideal place to stop for an adult beverage after a full day of exploring the Hamptons. Handcrafted co*cktails and wine are one of the top reasons this restaurant made our top Long Island restaurants list.

Lulu Kitchen & Bar

🍽️ Mediterranean | ($$$ to $$$$) | Website | 📍 Google Maps | 📞+1 631 725 0900

My 15 Essential Long Island Restaurants (10)

You can’t miss Lulu Kitchen & Bar right on the main Sag Harbor drag. This restaurant boasts good food suitable both for vegetarians and carnivores alike. I personally devoured the house falafel sandwich while my friend gobbled down the grilled whole branzino.

Lulu Kitchen & Bar is on the more expensive side, so I wouldn’t recommend eating here if visiting New York on a budget.
