Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (2024)

These days, there aresomany money-making apps out there that claim you can earn fast cash just by completing short tasks on your phone.

Lucky Money is a prime example of this. The popular reward app has over 10 million downloads and claims to pay out real money to players with prize pools of thousands of dollars.

But is Lucky Money legit? And does this app actually pay out?

I spent a day testing out Lucky Money to find out. And my Lucky Money review is covering my experiences with this app and while I ultimately don't think it's worth using.

Let's get to it!

What Is Lucky Money?

Lucky Money is a free scratch-and-win app for Android that claims you can earn free money by completing scratch tickets, playing in the Lucky Money lottery, and using its slot game.

To date, Lucky Money – Win Real Cash has over 10 million downloads, making it one of the most popular money-making Android apps.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (1)

The app is also pretty similar to apps like Lucktastic, another leading scratch and win app.

Overall, Lucky Money seems like a pretty fun side hustle. After all, who wouldn't want the thrill of playing the lottery or using scratch tickets without having to pay for them?

However, I'm going to get to the earning potential of all of this later on in our Lucky Money app review. And after testing out the app, I'm not so sure it actually pays its users.

Is Lucky Money Legit?

No, Lucky Money isn't legit, and the app takes an unrealistically long time to redeem rewards. You also have to watch a lot of ads when using the app, and it becomes harder to earn tokens the more you use the app.

I tested out Lucky Money for an afternoon, and I barely earned anything. Plus, it's impossible to know if the lottery games are rigged or not.

Additionally, I don't fully believe the app even pays out most users…just take a look at their Facebook page and you'll see loads of comments where users complain that they're stuck just below the cash out requirement so they never get paid.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (2)

Overall, Lucky Money seems like a scam. And there's very little Lucky Money payment proof out there, tons of negative comments, and a lot of red flags for this money-making app.

How Does Lucky Money Work?

I downloaded Lucky Money and tested it out to find out how the app works. Overall, the app is very easy to use, and you can sign up by connecting your Facebook account to the app.

Once you have an account, Lucky Money lets you earn tokens or cash by completing short tasks. Tokens are redeemable for free Amazon gift cards, whereas Lucky Money cash is redeemable for PayPal cash.

However, the options for earning tokens and cash are quite extensive. Here are some of the main ways to earn tokens or cash and how Lucky Money works.

1. Scratch Tickets

As I've mentioned, scratch tickets are the name of the game with Lucky Money.

When you open the app, your homepage has a stack of 50 scratch tickets. These tickets reset every 24 hours to keep you coming back.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (3)

Each one takes a few swiped to get through, and scratch tickets can award tokens, cash, other other goodies like raffle tickets that tie into some of the other earning options I'm going to cover.

Here's the catch: an advertisem*nt pops up every couple of scratch tickets.

Some of them are skippable, but many of them are 30 second video ads youcan'tskip. When I was testing the app, most of them weren't skippable, which was quite annoying.

There are plenty of ways to watch ads for money, but in my opinion, Lucky Money is pretty frustrating and not worth using. But hey, I'll give this app its due diligence and walk through the other earning methods.

2. Spin To Win

Lucky Spin is a wheel you can spin to earn extra mallet rewards or tokens.

Mallet rewards are basically chances to crack open a Lucky Egg, which can pay you more tokens, cash, or raffle tickets.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (4)

You have to pay 4,000 tokens to use Lucky Spin. Alternatively, you can watch a video ad to get a free spin (of course!).

I used the wheel a few times and mostly earned tokens, so it's just another part of the app where you can try and get lucky.

3. Slots

The Lucky Slots work similarly to the spin game because you can pay 4,000 tokens for every spin or subject yourself to a 30 second video ad.

It's a simple slot game: get 3 of the same symbols in a row and win a prize.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (5)

Prizes usually are tokens or cash, and there's a tantalizing jackpot number at the top of the slot game that shows you someone who won a massive jackpot.

I doubt this is real, or worthwhile, like anything in this app, but that's up to your judgement.

4. Raffle Tickets

Another way to try and make money with Lucky Money is to join a variety of raffles.

You get free raffle tickets each day, and you can also win raffle tickets from the other games pretty easily.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (6)

In terms of the rewards, here are some of the ongoing raffles:

  • Hourly Raffle– Earn $1 if you win.
  • A+ Raffle– Get a $100 Amazon gift card.
  • Daily Raffle– Earn $50 if you win.
  • Monthly Raffle– Earn $1,000 if you win.

You get raffle tickets for specific raffles from the other games you play, and you just have to enter your tickets in the raffle section to enter a giveaway.

5. The Lotto

Lucky Money also has a lottery game where you get to pick 6 numbers each day to play in the lottery. And the app claims that you can win different prizes based on how many numbers you get right.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (7)

Here's the reward breakdown:

  • 1 Match – Earn 50,000 tokens.
  • 2 Matches– Earn 250,000 tokens.
  • 3 Matches– Earn 500,000 tokens.
  • 4 Matches-Earn $5.
  • 5 Matches– Earn $50.
  • 6 Matches-Earn $100,000.

Now, I don't think this $100,000 prize pool has achanceof being legit, but even so, the odds here are so small of course like any lottery.

Also, you have to watch a video ad before entering the lottery, so don't forget that fun part.

6. Missions & Streaks

Lucky Money wants to incentivize players to stick around. To do this, they created missions and daily streak rewards that encourage consistent play.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (8)

Missions can include things like playing a certain number of scratch cards, spin games, or slots. If you beat a mission, you get to claim a small reward.

Similarly, if you play every day, you can earn up to 16,000 free tokens for reaching 7 days in a row.

These are fairly small earner, and as we're going to get into, your prospects of cashing out aren't looking too good.

7. Lucky Money Codes

One final way to earn tokens or cash is to find Lucky Money codes on social media.

Codes get posted on Facebook almost every day, and you can enter these codes to earn bonus tokens. The faster you are, the more you earn:

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (9)

Note:you might come across tips online relating to Lucky Money hacks, but there isn't a way to trick this app into paying more.

Most Lucky Money hacks state you can get free codes endlessly and boost your account earnings, but these hacks don't work so don't waste your time!

Lucky Money Rewards & Cashing Out

Currently, Lucky Money lets you cash out with Amazon gift cards and free PayPal cash. The redemption minimum is $3, or 3 million tokens:

  • $3 Amazon Gift Card– 3,000,000 tokens.
  • $5 Amazon Gift Card– 5,000,000 tokens.
  • $10 Amazon Gift Card– 10,000,000 tokens.
  • $10 PayPal Cash– 10,000,000 tokens.
  • $100 PayPal Cash– $100 in Lucky Money cash.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (10)

I played around with Lucky Money pretty lazily and reached $6.50 in cash and 167,000 tokens. However, a common complaint with this app (like Lucktastic) is that it progressively becomes harder to reach a cash out threshold.

I found this to be the case as well, and it seems like it's impossible to earn enough with this app to ever cash out.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • You can satisfy your scratch-and-win itch without spending money

Cons:

  • Unrealistic advertising
  • It becomes impossible to redeem rewards for many users
  • There's no iOS gaming app
  • You have to watch a lot of ads and most of them aren't skippable

Other Lucky Money App Reviews

I tested out Lucky Money, and I don't think the app is legit because it's basically impossible to cash out with.

But one of the best ways to tell if a side hustle idea is legit or not is to see what other users have to say about the app.

Thankfully, you can find Lucky Money reviews on forums like Reddit. Here's what some other people have to say about their experiences with Lucky Money:

  • Ten-MillionFireflies says: “Yeah, I usually avoid apps like these, because even if you do get credited, it takes a LONG time to cash out anything worthwhile.”
  • mastashake65 says: “I avoid all scratch-off apps too. They are designed to reward big when you first start to get you to keep scratching. You'll sit there for a month with that app without seeing so much as 10 bucks.”
  • steveyanowsky2 says: “This app is the biggest scam. I have over 7 million tokens to cash in but there is nothing to redeem them for. Most of what there is to redeem you need at least 30 million tokens which would take a lifetime. I just want to cash in 5 dollars for a gift cad but unable to.”

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (11)

As you can see, these Lucky Money reviews are quite negative and say the app is a scam. And you can find plenty of other testimonials online or in app store comments that tell the same story.

This is themainproblem with these sorts of apps…it actually takes a surprising amount of time to redeem anything, so it's largely a waste of time.

Just so you know I'm not making stuff up, I wanted to highlight another review that really highlights the problem with this company.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (12)

Currently, Lucky Money has a1.8 star review on the Better Business Bureau. There's also other customer complaints and this isn't a BBB accredited business.

Please, keep all of these factors in mind before downloading the app.

The Best Lucky Money Alternatives

After testing out Lucky Money, I don't think it's a high-paying app or worth using. In fact, my advice is to avoid Lucky Money and similar scratch-and-win apps that promise quick money.

Plus, there are plenty of legit apps you can use instead of Lucky Money, including:

  • Branded Surveys: Lets you share your opinion to get gift cards and PayPal cash.
  • Rewarded Play: This Android app pays you to play games.
  • Swagbucks: A versatile platform that pays you for answering paid surveys, shopping, downloading apps, watching ads, and more.
  • Kashkick: Another easy way to answer surveys and play games for PayPal money.
  • Mistplay: Another leading gaming rewards app for Android.
  • Ipsos iSay: A global survey site with a low $5 cash out minimum.

I also made a YouTube video that covers some legit ways to make money playing video games instead of using Lucky Money.

None of thesemicro task sites and apps will make you rich. However, these apps actually pay you unlike Lucky Money. And I've used all of them and cashed out over the years, so I know they're legit.

How Does Lucky Money Make Money?

I thought it would be interesting for users to understand what the real point of this app is since it doesn't benefit consumers.

If you visit their website, you'll see there's a section that's for advertisers looking to show sponsored videos and ads on the Lucky Money app.

Is Lucky Money Legit Or A Scam? (My Honest Review!) (13)

There's a surprising number of ad options, and this is the entire point of the app. Lucky Money is an advertising platform disguised as a game. There's no other way to put it.

Final Thoughts

I hope my Lucky Money app review helps you understand how this app works and its earning potential.

I don't normally write app reviews for apps I want absolutely nothing to do with. However, given how many people search for reviews about Lucky Money, I want to try and guide people to better alternatives.

There's so many ways to make money online…you can sell your skills, start an online business, get into blogging, or try thousands of other ideas.

Even though a lot of these money-making methods take more time and skill, the effort is absolutely worth it in the long run.

If you have different opinions, definitely let me know down in the comments.

I'll catch you guys in the next one!
