Mrs. Mary Alice Wright Broome, age 73, of Rockmart, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 20008.
Mrs. Broome was born on June 13, 1934 in Polk County GA to the late Charles "Charlie" Wright & the late Mae Brown Wright Wray. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bobby" Broome in 1974.
Mary Alice will be remembered by many as an employee of Carlton's Clothing Store, a secretary at Rockmart High School, the Polk County EMS and for many years she was the office manager with the Coosa Valley Home Health Care. She was inducted into the Rockmart Hall of Fame in 2005 for her participation in the Rockmart basketball program. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Rockmart.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Charles Anthony "Tony" and Stephanie Broome of Lindale, two sisters, Charlotte Wood of Cedartown and Cornelia Wright of Antioch, granddaughter, Laurie Broome of Lindale, life long friend, Mrs. Sal Forsyth of Rockmart. A number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services for Mary Alice Broome will be held on Friday, February 22nd at 2:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 21st from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the Freeman Harris Funeral Home.
The following Gentlemen will serve as Pallbearers: Dan Casey, Bill Carlton, Curtis Vincent, Buck Whitehead, Gene Parham and Stewart Mintz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Lumpkin, Nathan Dean, Horace Borders, Don Bennett, Joe Kinney and Donald "Duck" Mintz.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Rockmart in memory of Mrs. Broome.
